THE “LITTLE BROTHER” WILL BE BUILT
The construction of the first S2C 45, considered the "little
brother" of the S2C 55 (Swiss Catamaran Concept’s flagship) will
begin this summer at CMM boatyard in Antalya, Turkey.
The S2C 45 can be sailed shorthanded, and all the manoeuvers are
centralised in order to simplify boat handling. “We wanted to
make sure that a crewmember can sail the boat alone, and tack or
jibe whilst his crewmate, husband or wife is asleep”, explains
designer Sébastien Schmidt.
"This yacht has been conceived for couples and families, with a
master bedroom located in one of the hulls and the kids’ room in
the other, with also enough space to invite guests on-board.”
The S2C 45 has been conceived according to Swiss Catamaran
Concept’s basic principles: flawless construction, marine
qualities associated with optimal performance and comfort. "This
is undoubtedly a sailor’s yacht, and not a catamaran made for
short cruises in the Caribbean," says the architect.
The interior has been designed to prevent nuisance from the
sound of waves, with the bunks located in the hulls and oriented
in the direction of navigation, and not perpendicular to the
running of the yacht.
The S2C 45 is also adapted to the Nordic market, and can sail
through locks in Germany, Holland and other Nordic countries.
She is eight meters wide, and her selling price will be around
850,000 Euros, complete and ready to sail, including four sails,
a generator, electronics and electricity, TV, fridge & freezer
etc.
This price includes whatever is needed to sail, with no hidden
costs. According to Swiss Catamaran Concept’s philosophy, this
means a boat with antifouling, delivered in the water, which
unfortunately doesn’t seem to be the current standard.
Swiss Catamaran is proud to announce that the world’s first
official presentation of the S2C 45 is scheduled at the Cannes
Boat Show 2013.
GREAT DEVELOPMENT FOR THE S2C 55
The third S2C 55 is currently under construction in Antalya, and
will be launched this summer. Christophe Buholzer, who oversees
construction at the CMM boatyard, is enthusiastic: "We unmoulded
the hull last month, and started installing the internal
structures, before turning her back a few days ago.”
The installation of the infrastructure (electricity, pipes etc.)
has begun whilst the interior layout is nearly complete. The
carpenters will now adjust the pre-painted modules, and place
them in their final position.
In parallel, the mast and the rigging are currently being
prepared at the other end of Europe, in Denmark, whilst the
production of the sails is about to begin.
The entire process is taking place smoothly, and the
construction team is respecting the schedule in a very Swiss
manner!
This is the third S2C 55 being built. The first one is currently
in Antalya, next to the boatyard, and potential buyers have the
possibility to test-sail her and to visit the yard. The second
S2C 55 has been sold and will be used throughout the season in
the Mediterranean for charter, which is also a good opportunity
to test-sail her in real conditions.
She will then be exhibited at the Palma Boat Show and at the
Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes 2012 (see below).
OPTIONS ON REQUEST
When delivered in its “basic version”, the S2C 55 is built in
epoxy sandwich with carbon reinforcements, a carbon mast and
“Park avenue” boom, four sails, top level electronics, TV,
fridge, freezer and so much more… She costs approximately
1’250’000 Euros.
Three packs are available on request for the most demanding
owners:
·
Carbon Pack
·
Titanium Pack
·
Lithium Pack
A NEW YACHT FOR CHARTER
Swiss Catamaran Concept’s design team and designer Sebastian
Schmidt are currently working on a 59’ project specifically
conceived for charter. Larger than the traditional S2C’s, this
catamaran will accommodate up to ten guests in five double
cabins. She will be sailed by a crew of 2-3 people who will have
their own separate cabin.
This yacht won’t be built according to Swiss Catamaran’s
philosophy. Unlike the S2C 45 and 55, who are targeted at
families and put the emphasis on seaworthiness and performance,
the 59’ will feature five hotel-room type cabins, each with
their private bathroom, and is conceived for short-time stays
and shorter trips.
This version will be available for approximately one million
Euros.
A 75’ PROJECT
Thanks to the experience gathered, and to the success of the S2C
55, Swiss Catamaran Concept and yacht designer Seb Schmidt have
developed a project for a high-end 75’ catamaran. The S2C 75 has
been conceived according to Swiss Catamaran Concept’s top of the
range philosophy.
